THE QUEEN’S BEASTS…

Signifying the genealogy of Elizabeth II, the Queen’s Beasts are ten heraldic statues that stood guard at the Queen’s coronation in 1953. Including the White Lion of Mortimer, the Falcon of the Plantagenets and the Griffin of Edward III, to name but a few, the Queen’s Beasts represent an inspired concept for a coin series.

THE WHITE HORSE OF HANOVER

With roots in medieval times, the emblem of the white horse became part of Britain’s heraldic tradition when the first Hanoverian monarch – King George I – was crowned in 1714. Also known as the Saxon Steed, the White Horse of Hanover appeared on Britain’s Royal Arms during the Hanoverian Period.
