Since 5 July 1948, the National Health Service (NHS) has provided vital care for millions of people throughout the United Kingdom. The pivotal role the NHS plays in the lives of the British public has become especially apparent in recent years during the challenges faced with the Covid-19 pandemic.

To commemorate 75 years of care, compassion and devotion, we are releasing a UK 50p coin that celebrates the very best of the NHS. Featuring a reverse design by Alice Lediard, a senior designer at The Royal Mint, the coin features words that reflect our appreciation for NHS workers, past and present.

As a thank you from The Royal Mint, 100% of the profit made from the sale of the coin will go towards NHS Charities Together, which works and fundraises for over 230 NHS charities across the UK, providing additional support and resources for staff and patients.
