While jellyfish are likely to elicit feelings of dread, they are also creatures of great mystery and beauty. One of their most remarkable aspects is their life cycle. Though they look so different, each of the jellies in the stamps started life as a tiny daisy-shaped larva known as an ephyra, budded off from a tiny polyp, which appears as pale pink fuzz. In the right conditions, these polyps release the baby jellies. Jellies also have a knack for survival: most can grow extremely vigorously when food is abundant, or slow down or even 'de-grow' when food is scarce. They have no bones, no brain and no heart, yet they prey on species higher up the food chain than themselves. Perhaps most miraculous, jellies can clone in not just one but at least 13 different ways. The medallion is exclusive to this cover, in a limited edition of just 150. UV screen-printing on the gummed stamps and selvage gives the minisheet a glow-in-the-dark effect. Limited to only 150.
