In the tidal country of the Gulf and Barkly Tablelands, Mardumbarrayi moves with quiet authority — ancient, watchful, and deeply woven into the stories of the Gudanji/Wakaja people. This 2026 $1 privy mark coin from the Royal Australian Mint brings that powerful presence into metal, carrying the Saltwater Crocodile’s name in its own language and the distinctive privy mark that sets it apart from the standard release. Designed in collaboration with Gudanji/Wakaja and Kalkadoon artist Ryhia Dank (nardurna), the reverse captures the animal’s strength through pattern and relationship, turning a circulating denomination into a small, lasting act of cultural recognition.

Presented in a protective collector card, this uncirculated aluminium-bronze piece is both accessible and meaningful. Whether you are completing the Our Animals, Our Country series or simply drawn to the quiet power of Country told through coin, Mardumbarrayi offers a tangible connection to language, land and living tradition.
