On storm-lashed nights along the western shores of Japan, fishermen once spoke of a pale shape rising from the fog — not a living whale, but its bare white skeleton, still swimming with quiet purpose. The Bake-Kujira, or Ghost Whale, appears as a vast bone framework that harpoons cannot touch, accompanied by strange fish and dark birds that belong to no known waters. This 2026 1oz Silver Proof captures that haunting presence in pure silver: the skeletal form gliding through mist and waves, its empty eye sockets and arched ribs rendered with intricate detail against a mirrored proof field that seems to shimmer like the surface of a restless sea.

Limited to only 500 pieces worldwide, this coin is a rare tribute to one of Japan’s most enigmatic yōkai. Whether you collect mythology, wildlife spirits, or simply seek a piece that carries the chill of coastal legend, the Bake-Kujira offers a spectral encounter you can hold in your hand — a silent reminder that some things beneath the waves never fully rest.

Most importantly, under UV light the whale itself glows, transforming the skeleton into a ghostly apparition and creating a striking connection between the mythology and the finished piece.
