All aboard the train that carried a generation into a world of wonder. The 2022 Hogwarts Express 50p captures that unforgettable moment at Platform 9¾ — steam rising, the scarlet locomotive waiting, and the promise of magic just beyond the barrier. Drawn from Jim Kay’s enchanting illustrations and brought to life by Royal Mint designer Ffion Gwillim, this Brilliant Uncirculated coin features a clever latent image that shifts between the number “25” and a lightning bolt, celebrating twenty-five years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone first opened the doors to Hogwarts.

Struck in cupro-nickel and bearing the final commemorative portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark, this piece is more than a coin — it is a ticket back to the beginning of the adventure. Whether you are a lifelong Potterhead or simply love the romance of steam and story, the Hogwarts Express 50p invites you to step onto the platform once more and remember the journey that started it all.
