Limited to just 7,000 individually numbered covers worldwide, this official 2026 $1 Decimal Currency 60 Years PNC is a joint release from Australia Post and the Royal Australian Mint to celebrate 60 years since Australia switched to decimal currency on 14 February 1966.

The centrepiece is a brilliant uncirculated $1 aluminium-bronze coin featuring a spectacular high-relief design that unites all seven original 1966 decimal coin animals in one harmonious composition: the kangaroo and emu (50c), platypus (20c), lyrebird (10c), echidna (5c), frilled-neck lizard (2c), and feathertail glider (1c). These iconic creatures encircle a bold central “60” numeral, with flowing ribbon-like elements and the inscription “AUSTRALIAN DECIMAL CURRENCY 60 YEARS” completing the design. The reverse beautifully captures the spirit of the 1966 changeover and the enduring appeal of Stuart Devlin’s original fauna series.

Affixed to the front of the PNC is a matching $1.70 Australia Post stamp cancelled with a special first-day-of-issue postmark dated 9 February 2026 (Canberra ACT 2600). The cover design features a sophisticated green and gold marbled background with elegant typography, archival-style imagery of 1966 decimal notes and coins, and a clear window showcasing the coin. Each cover is individually numbered (e.g., 001/7000) on the front or flap, adding significant collectible value.

The reverse provides a concise historical overview of the decimal transition, the role of the Royal Australian Mint, and full technical specifications of the coin.
