The impressive Big Lobster is located in the coastal town of Kingston South East, 297 kilometres south-east of Adelaide, South Australia. Built in 1979, the sculpture of the Spiny Lobster is composed of steel and fibreglass and stands a remarkable 17 metres tall. It celebrates local industry and attracts tourists to the adjacent restaurant and visitor centre. The sculpture was designed and built by Paul Kelly for Rob Moyse and local fisherman Ian Backler. The huge crustacean is affectionately called Larry the Lobster by proud locals.
