This enormous sheep, named Bart, stands in the town of Wagin, in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. Sculptor and designer Andrew Hickson was commissioned to build the ram to commemorate the district’s role in the Australian wool industry. The town is famous for sheep farming and every March hosts Woolorama, one of the largest agricultural shows in Western Australia. At nine metres in height, the Giant Ram is constructed in fibreglass on a steel frame and is the second-biggest sheep in the Southern Hemisphere, after Goulburn’s towering 15-metre-high Giant Merino.

This cover depicts both the Giant Ram and the Big Merino. The coin reflects the Giant Ram in Wagin, while the stamp depicts the Big Merino in Goulburn. This postage stamp was released in the Big Things stamp issue from 5 June 2007.
